Blue Dolphin Policies
The Blue Dolphin serves as an intimate, romantic setting for adults who wish to relax. We’re beginning a transition into an adult-only inn for those 18 years of age and older as we move into 2023. To be fair to all paying guests, rates posted on this website are the lowest rates available.
Check-In: 2:00 p.m.
Check-Out: 10:00 a.m.
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY PER ROOM:
Rooms 1, 2, 9, 10: Maximum is 4 Guests
Rooms 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 8a: Maximum is 2 Guests
$15 charge per extra person, per room, per night
WiFi:
We offer complimentary WiFi throughout the property.
MINIMUM STAY:
A two-night minimum stay is required. A three-night minimum stay may be required for some holiday weekends.
TAXES:
6.5% Sales Tax plus 5% Tourist Tax will be added to all rates.
CREDIT CARDS and SECURITY:
All major credit cards accepted: Visa, MC, Amex, and Discover.
Your credit card information is stored and processed securely. For additional security, all guest credit card numbers will be deleted automatically from our system 45 days after departure.
NO SMOKING:
All our rooms are non-smoking, INCLUDING ALL AREAS AROUND THE BUILDINGS. Please respect those who may have respiratory issues, allergies, pregnant, or health conscious. We can direct you to an outdoor location where you may smoke. If you smoke in your room, there will be a $250 cleaning charge. No candles or incense please.
PARKING:
We offer FREE on-site parking. One vehicle per room is allowed on property, two if maximum occupancy of 4 people are in one room. Due to liability concerns and to ensure we have space for paying guests and employees, all unregistered guests (including friends and family) are not permitted to park on the property.
NO PETS:
Due to noise, liability, pet waste, and guests that may have allergies, asthma, or other respiratory issues, pets are not permitted.
HOUSEKEEPING:
Housekeeping is offered upon request. If you’d like your room refreshed during your stay, please place the “Please Service My Room” sign outside your door by 12:30pm. If the “Do Not Disturb” sign is not put out, no one will disturb you or enter your room.
DEPOSITS:
A deposit equal to one-half (50%) the entire amount is required to confirm a reservation. The balance is due upon arrival. Note: Reservations will not be confirmed until deposit is made.
Renovations:
As of mid-July 2022, The Blue Dolphin resort is currently in the early stages of a re-imagination project. Interior and exterior renovations are taking place during specific dates and may impact guest amenities. Noise will be limited to 9am – 5pm. During this time, rooms may present differently from images on the website. If you have questions about specific dates, feel free to give us a call.
We will make every attempt to honor room requests via reservations – in the unlikely event a specific room becomes unavailable due to situations beyond our control, we reserve the right to re-assign the reservation to one of our other rooms.
BOOK DIRECT AND SAVE! The lowest rates and highest levels of flexibility are ONLY available on bookings made directly with us through the official Blue Dolphin website.
CANCELLATIONS: As we are a small property, the Blue Dolphin strictly adheres to all cancellation policies. IMPORTANT: Any reservations made through Expedia, Booking.com, or other OTA booking engines are strictly subject to the cancellation / change of date policies on those specific sites. These OTA policies are outlined in the appropriate section below.
FOR DIRECT BOOKINGS THROUGH OUR OFFICIAL WEBSITE OR BY TELEPHONE: Cancellations must be made more than 30 days before arrival. We will not offer refunds (or the ability to change reservation dates) on any cancellation made less than 30 days prior to arrival.
All cancellations made more than 30 days before arrival are subject to a $50 credit processing fee. Again, we will not offer refunds (or the ability to change reservation dates) on any cancellation made less than 30 days prior to arrival.
FOR BOOKINGS MADE THROUGH ANY OTA (FOR EXAMPLE, BOOKING.COM OR EXPEDIA.COM, ETC): You will be charged 50% of the total price if you cancel at any time after you make your reservation – and reservations within the cancellation window cannot be moved to another date. BOOK DIRECT and you’ll have lower rates and more flexibility.
FOR ALL OFFICIAL SITE BOOKINGS AND OTA SITE BOOKINGS:
Guests are responsible for payment in full of reserved dates, despite late arrivals or early departures. If a reservation is made within the 30 day cancellation policy and a cancellation is requested, the deposit is non-refundable – and reservations within the cancellation window cannot be moved to another date. Reservation deposits for inn buy-outs; land-usage rentals for special events; special dinner, promotional, or holiday packages (and/or stay-durations exceeding 2 weeks) are non-refundable.
HURRICANE IAN: REGARDING ADVANCE DEPOSIT FUNDS LEFT WITH THE BLUE DOLPHIN (TO BE APPLIED TO POST-REBUILD RESERVATIONS): If, at any time after you inform us to hold on to your advance deposit (for it to be applied against a post-rebuild reservation in the future), you change your mind and decide you would rather have a refund, you may give us a call and we will issue the refund (minus a $25 processing fee).
IMPORTANT TRAVEL INSURANCE NOTE: The Blue Dolphin Cottages strictly adheres to all cancellation policies. DAMAGES POLICY:
Damage to hotel property – We reserve the right to charge guests the cost of rectifying damage, caused by the deliberate, negligent or reckless act of the guest to the hotel’s property or structure. Should this damage come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right to make a charge to the guest’s credit / debit card, or send an invoice for the amount to the registered address. We will however make every effort to rectify any damage internally prior to contracting specialists to make the repairs, and therefore will make every effort to keep any costs that the guest would incur to a minimum.
GIFT CERTIFICATES:
All Blue Dolphin gift certificate sales are final and nonrefundable. Gift certificates cannot ever be redeemed or exchanged for cash, check, or credit. Gift certificates (of any type) cannot be used as advance deposits to hold any future reservations. Gift certificates can ONLY be redeemed and applied at check-in or while booking directly on our website. Additionally, Blue Dolphin Cottages is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed Gift Certificates.
LAUNDRY ROOM:
Our laundry room is available for guest use after 4:00pm. The laundry room may be available earlier in the day – please stop by the office and we’ll let you know. Washers are $1.00 for each load, dryers are .75 for each load. Quarters are available in the office.
BATH TOWELS:
Extra bath towels, hand towels, face cloths, bath mats, and kitchen towels are stored in the laundry room. Please feel free to drop your used towels in the basket marked, “Bath Towels” and exchange for fresh towels, if needed.
BEACH TOWELS:
Beach towels are available in the Laundry Room. When finished using the towels, please shake the sand out and drop them in the basket marked “Beach Towels” to be washed.
OUTSIDE SHOWERS:
There are outside showers behind each unit. Please make sure water is completely turned off after each use.
TRASH / RECYCLING:
There is a dumpster and recycling bins located to the left of the parking lot. WE ENCOURAGE RECYCLING – Cardboard, glass, and plastic can be put together in our recycling bins.
BIKES:
Bikes are complimentary. They are located outside, in front of the laundry room. Helmets are also available (hanging on the right side in the laundry room). Please return bikes back to the storage area when you are finished using them.
UMBRELLAS and BEACH CHAIR LOUNGERS:
Umbrellas and Beach Loungers are complimentary. They are located outside, to the left side of the laundry room.
Note: Umbrellas and chairs MUST be brought back up off of the beach each night at sundown due to a Sanibel ordinance. Chairs and other gear left on the beach at night can interfere with nesting turtles by impeding both the mother’s crawl to the nest site, and the ability of the turtle hatchlings to get to the water, where they are relatively safe from airborne predators. We kindly ask that you respect Turtle nesting season from May to October and preservation of the nesting sites, which have high priority among Sanibel residents and visitors. PLEASE RETURN ALL ITEMS BACK TO THE STORAGE AREAS AFTER USE.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS:
Please take note that we cannot accept responsibility for personal belongings that are left in either a guest’s room or car, as well as any damage that may occur to a guest’s vehicle. All personal guest belongings left behind will be returned upon request by the guest by UPS. Signature required and shipping cost will be charged to the guests credit card on file.
